UAS Project Cycle

Pursuant to Section 108 of the National Information and Communications Technology Act 2009, (the Act), the UAS Board is required annually to engage NICTA through the UAS Secretariat to prepare a Universal Access and Service Projects Report. The report should summarize the UAS Projects under consideration for the subject year, their respective indicative costs, their proposed ranking (and the reasons) and the proposed aggregate budget.

The development of the UAS Projects Report as set out in the Act is summarised in the figure below. The process begins with the identification of projects and ends with the preparation and submission of the UAS Projects report to the UAS Board for its consideration. The UAS Board is then required to submit the UAS Projects Report to the Minister responsible recommending UAS Projects for implementation for the subject year. Once approved by the Minister, NICTA may then proceed with implementing the approved UAS Projects.

UAS Project Cycle

Prior to any decision by NICTA as to its Projects Report, NICTA and the UAS Board may consult with stakeholders generally, and soliciting their suggestions or proposals for UAS Projects for the subject year. The consultations generally follow the NICTA public consultation processes and guidelines.
